Fox Hill Historical Society Seeks Center

FHHS is taking on a big venture.  We want our own center but without you we cannot do this.  We saw what the Fox Hill Cemetery Association did with everybody helping and the FHHS can do the same.  Let’s make this happen.

Fund Raiser to Kick Off Project

Donn and Jeanne Weaver are having a spaghetti dinner at their home July 19 from 4 to 7 PM.  This dinner is limited to 75 people. Call Judy at 851-7603 or Katie at 851-3631 to make your reservation. Tickets are $10.00 and proceeds go to the society to help purchase FHHS History and Genealogy center.

Honor and Remember Fox Hillians

We can now take tax deductible memorial donations in honor of your loved ones.  Please make check out to FHHS and mail to Katie Arredondo, 208 Beach Road, Hampton, Va. 23664.

Arcadia Book Forever Immortalizes  FH History and Roots

The first Fox Hill picture book goes on sale in October 2003.  Call Judy at 851-7603 or Katie at 851-3631 to reserve your copy.  We are not sure of the price but it will be in the range of $20 - $25.  These will make excellent Christmas presents and helps the society with the purchase of our center.

Fox Hill Recipes Needed

We are now collecting receipts for our first FHHS Cookbook.  We need your mother’s, your grannies, your grandmother’s, grandfather’s or yours.  Please bring these to the meeting or get them to Judy or Katie.  We would like to have this published in time for Christmas.

We need volunteers to help collect recipes.

We Need and Want Your Help

We need volunteers for several committees that we are forming.  Let us know if you would like to work on these committees.  Ways and Means, telephone, cookbook, history, genealogy,  newsletter, fundraising, etc.

Need a Tax Break?

Tax deductible contributions  are now being accepted to help with the purchase of our center.  Make your check out to FHHS and mail to Katie at 208 Beach Road, Hampton, Va. 23664.

Light Keepers Original Painting

If you have not seen the painting of “Light Keepers” by member Jeanne Weaver you have missed a treat.  Jeanne donated one of her paintings to the society.  We raffled this painting and the proceeds went to help purchase our center.  There were only 20 of these prints, signed and numbered.  We have a few left for sale.  The prints are 18 x 34 and are $75.00.  We will have these prints at our meeting.  Please stop by and see this painting.  All of the light house keepers names are included on this print.  You owe it to yourself to see this painting.

Christmas Ornaments Commemorate Fox Hill

Going on sale this fall will be the first FHHS Christmas ornament.  This will be a collector’s item.  A new ornament will go on sale each year.   Look for this and other items at the meetings.

NEXT MEETING

July 12 - 2:00 PM.  We will  meet at the Hampton History Museum for a short meeting and then we will have a guided tour of the Museum.

We need tables and chairs for our new center.  Start looking for these items at yard sales or in your attic.  Remember, we are starting from the ground floor.

If you are not already a member and would like to join please contact us or come to our next meeting. Dues are $15.00 per year for a household.

Seeking Great Minds

Do you have ideas brewing in your head?  Do you know of a money raising event that could aid in raising funds for the FHHS?  No idea is to silly to consider.  We are in this for the long haul.  Let us know your dreams and ideas to bring FHHS to a permanent residence.
